A logo is the smallest part of a visual identity

The logo gets the attention, but it’s the smallest piece of a visual identity. The system around it does most of the work. Colour palette that signals quality at first glance. Typography that carries the brand’s voice without saying a word. Imagery that establishes the world your brand lives in. Layout principles that make every page look composed instead of cobbled together. When all of these elements work as a system, the brand feels premium effortlessly. When even one piece is off, the whole thing tips toward looking cheap.

That’s why we treat visual identity as a system, not a deliverable. We design every element to work with every other element, at every scale, in every context. Strategy comes first, always: the visual identity is a translation of your positioning, not decoration on top of it. We take a limited number of identity projects each month because this work demands care, and care doesn’t scale. The output is a complete identity system your team can apply to anything, anywhere, with the same premium feel intact.

The Process

How we design premium identities.

Six phases. Timeline depends on the scope of the identity, the number of stakeholders, and the depth of application work.

01

Strategy Alignment

Before any visual exploration we lock the strategy. If you’ve done strategy work with us (or elsewhere), we start there. If not, we run a focused alignment session to surface the positioning, voice, and audience that will guide every design decision. The strategy is what stops the design process from devolving into "I like blue, my partner likes green," because every decision has a strategic answer instead of a personal one.

Output

A short brief connecting strategy to visual decisions, agreed before any design starts.
02

Moodboards & Direction

Two or three distinct creative directions, each with a moodboard showing the visual language, references, palette starting points, and typography character. These aren’t finished designs, they’re strategic choices about which direction the identity should go. We present, we discuss, we narrow. By the end of this step, you’ve chosen one direction with conviction. Everything that follows is execution, not exploration.

Chosen direction
One agreed visual direction. No more back-and-forth on whether we’re going modern or classic.
03

Logo & Mark Design

The most-discussed deliverable, designed with care. Multiple logo concepts within the chosen direction, refined through rounds of feedback. Wordmark, monogram, icon, and any lockup variations needed. Each logo tested at extreme sizes, in black-and-white, in inverted colour, and against busy backgrounds. The final logo system works everywhere from a 16px favicon to a building signage, without losing legibility or character.

A logo that works at every size, in every context, on every background. Yours forever.
04

Typography, Colour & Imagery

The rest of the visual system. Typography paired for hierarchy and personality, with licensing handled in your name. Colour palette balanced for accessibility, distinctiveness, and emotional pull. Photography direction with reference shots and capture guidelines. Illustration style if relevant. Iconography that matches the brand’s character. Each element tested against the logo to make sure the system holds together.

05

Application Design

The identity applied to the real things your brand needs. Website hero designs. Social media templates for every platform. Email signature. Business cards and stationery if relevant. Pitch deck or presentation template. Packaging mockups if you’re a physical product. Whatever your business actually uses, designed in the identity so your team has working templates from day one, not theoretical guidelines.

Brand Book & Hand-Over

The complete brand book documenting every decision. Logo usage rules in plain language. Colour values in every format (HEX, RGB, CMYK, Pantone). Typography hierarchy with examples. Imagery guidance with do-and-don’t comparisons. Application patterns. Plus a working session with your team so they understand the system, not just have access to it. After hand-over, the identity is yours: editable source files, font licenses in your name, full ownership of every asset.

What you walk away with

Four parts of a working identity.

Every identity engagement delivers these. Scope varies by project, but the architecture stays consistent.

01

Logo System

Not one logo, a system. Primary lockup, secondary versions, monogram, icon, all variations needed for different contexts. Scale-tested from favicon to billboard. Tested across black, white, brand colours, and busy backgrounds. Source files in every format your designers and printers will ever need.

Primary lockup Variations Monogram & icon All formats
02

Colour & Typography

Colour palette designed for accessibility (WCAG compliant), distinctiveness (not just whatever’s trending), and emotional pull. Typography pairings for display, body, and UI use, licensed in your name. Hierarchy rules. Application examples so your team applies them consistently without guessing.

WCAG-compliant palette Type pairings Hierarchy rules Font licenses
03

Imagery & Style

The world your brand lives in, visualised. Photography direction with reference shots and capture guidelines. Illustration style if relevant. Iconography matched to the brand’s personality. Motion principles for digital. The visual decisions that make every piece of content feel like it belongs to the same brand.

Common questions

What clients actually ask.

A logo on its own is decoration. A visual identity is a system that makes every piece of communication feel like the same brand: website, social, packaging, sales deck, business card, email signature. Buying just a logo without the system is like buying a front door without the rest of the house. The door looks good, but it doesn’t lead anywhere. We design the whole house, with the logo as the front door.
Pricing depends on scope: just logo system, full visual identity, or complete identity plus application kit. Plus complexity, stakeholder size, and whether you need new fonts licensed and new photography directed. We don’t publish ranges because they anchor expectations either too high or too low, and identity work scales differently for a single-founder brand than for a multi-product company. After a 20-minute discovery call we send a fixed quote covering every deliverable. No hidden fees, no scope creep without sign-off.
It depends on scope and approval speed. A focused logo and identity for a single-founder business runs shorter than a full identity system with multi-stakeholder approval and a deep application kit. The biggest variable is decision-making speed: we move only as fast as approvals come back. We give a fixed timeline at scoping and stick to it as long as feedback stays on schedule. Brand identity work shouldn’t be rushed, and we’ll be honest about that.
Two safeguards prevent this. First, we agree the strategic direction before any logo design happens, so the brief is locked. Second, we present multiple concepts in the chosen direction, so you’re selecting, not just approving or rejecting. Revisions are part of the process: we share concepts, we discuss honestly, we refine, we converge. If after the agreed revision rounds the direction still doesn’t feel right, we have a conversation about whether the brief itself needs revisiting. We’ve never had a project end without a logo the client genuinely loves.
Yes, completely. The logo is yours to register as a trademark in your name. Fonts are licensed in your name, not rented through us. Source files in editable Figma. All artwork, illustrations, and photography (where commissioned) handed over with full usage rights. We don’t hold artwork hostage, don’t licence the logo back to you year on year, don’t play any of the standard agency tricks. The brand is yours forever.
Yes, and we design for it. The brand book is written in plain language with concrete do-and-don’t examples. Application templates for social, email, stationery, and presentations are delivered editable so your team can customise them in tools they already use. We also run a brand training session with your team so they understand the system, not just have access to it. After hand-over, your marketing team ships brand assets without raising tickets every time.
